How is BBN-OC different from the Black Chamber?
The Black Chamber is a separate group that focuses mainly on social, historical and educational events. BBN-OC is a member of the Chamber and works with the Chamber on various events.
Anyone (not necessarily black) may visit BBN-OC who is interested in learning more about BBN-OC, becoming a member, or doing business with a member or the group. The guest is responsible for paying the lunch fee.
Is BBN-OC membership exclusive?
Membership is not currently exclusive. We will accept more than one person from each profession within reason. The overall goal is to create an environment where every member can benefit.
How often can visitors attend a BBN-OC meeting?
Visitors may visit up to 4 times a year. We want to welcome our non-member community, but focus most of our attention on our members. Visitors will be introduced by name and company name only. Sixty second commercial opportunities are reserved for members.
Are members required to provide referrals only to BBN-OC members?
No. It is understood that each member belongs to other organizations in addition to BBN-OC. The best policy is to provide referrals that are in the best interest of the potential client.
Do the Qualified Referrals have to be black?
No. Although there are many black people and businesses that make great potential referrals, the idea is to create business, any business, for members regardless of color, creed, etc.
